We recognize that we are not perfect, we must constantly innovate and improve every day in order to optimize the app's features and give out the highest quality product to our valued merchants. After many years of research and development, our team is proud to release a new version of the app with the catchy "DingDoong" moniker and distinctive pink hue. We believe that it's worth a try!

# Terminology

Date picking is the fundamental of our app, so naturally it would be good if we explain the terminology and talk about how things work.

**Number of preparation day**: Amount of time in day needed to prepare. This is the idle time from the point of ordering to the first day of date/time selection

**Delivery date range**: The range of day customers can select their order date and time.

**Blackout date**: holiday period when you don't work. The app will disable selected dates and push the remaining preparation day(s)/delivery day(s) forward.&#x20;

**Working day**: is defined as the day(s) within the week when you can fulfill customers' orders. You can to set up all 7 days of the week or selected ones only.&#x20;

By default, **non-working day will be counted toward your prep day.** If you don't want to consider non-working day as your prep day, go to **General Settings** and turn on **"Do not include non-working day in prep day".**

# Dashboard

Before setting up rules in the other main tabs, we start by reviewing the **Dashboard Tab** to get an overview of key warnings, setup guidelines, and order request statistics.

<figure><img src="/files/JrgW5fu75VsZXu1Ly8Wn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Turn on the app in the App Embeds section <a href="#embed-app" id="embed-app"></a>

Please click the **"Embed app"** button, which will direct you to the embedding page.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/4KlYfqTXelpj85i5SowM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Then, click **Save** to enable the app in your theme. As a result, **DingDoong** will now appear in your **cart section** when customers are viewing their cart, enabling them to select their preferred scheduling options before proceeding to checkout.

<figure><img src="/files/gnZWpaZkqViXQdTalaAe" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<mark style="background-color:green;">\*Note:</mark> In some cases, you use a theme in which our app is unable to detect a position for your date picker widget, **adding a block** is highly recommended. You can also put the widget in any place you want.

## Start your journey with our setup guidelines

If you're new to the app and unsure of how to begin, our guidelines can provide a helpful starting point.

# Delivery rates

# How to add rates on CHECKOUT PAGE?

Set up rates on Checkout page (Useful for Shopify beginners)

{% hint style="warning" %}
DingDoong's scope:&#x20;

Currently, we are not supporting defining delivery's rate in-app. However, users can use Shopify rates instead.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
Shopify rates are ideal for merchants who want:

**Flat shipping rate:**&#x20;

* A fixed shipping cost charged per order regardless of weight or price
* For example,  $5 standard, $15 expedited

**Price-based shipping rates&#x20;**<mark style="color:yellow;">**(Popular)**</mark>

* Shipping fees vary depending on the total order value. Merchants set minimum and maximum cart price thresholds for different flat rates.
* Example: $4 shipping for orders under $50, free shipping for orders over $100.

**Weight-based shipping rates:**

* Shipping fees depend on the total weight of the order. Merchants define weight ranges with corresponding flat rates.
* Example: $7 for orders under 5 kg, $15 for orders over 5 kg.

**Free shipping rate:**

* Any flat rate can be set to $0 to offer free shipping.
* Can be site-wide or conditional (e.g., free shipping on orders over $100).

**Calculated shipping rates  (Carrier-Calculated):**

* Real-time shipping costs provided by carriers like USPS, UPS, DHL, or Canada Post.
* Rates are dynamically calculated based on order details such as weight, dimensions, destination, and delivery speed.
  {% endhint %}

## Setting up Shipping rates for all products

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Go to Settings of Shopify > Shipping and Delivery
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click in General shipping rates
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

<figure><img src="/files/fGaYA34Fceek0FCPChvA" alt=""><figcaption><p>Create shipping zone</p></figcaption></figure>

Add rate as you want, you can customize **Rate name, delivery description and see preview on Checkout page**&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/YE6dhIKBZ7VSuDYHcxPo" alt=""><figcaption><p>Add rate and preview </p></figcaption></figure>

**Add shipping rates** such as:

* **Flat rates:** a fixed shipping fee regardless of order size or weight.
* **Weight-based rates:** shipping fees that vary based on the total weight of the order.
* **Price-based rates:** shipping fees that depend on the order value.
* **Free shipping:** set a rate of $0 or create conditions for free shipping (e.g., free shipping on orders over $50).
* You can add conditions to rates to **specify minimum and maximum order price or weight ranges.**

<figure><img src="/files/ms2PqmDT10KccFp42dRB" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Setting up Shipping rates for specific products

{% hint style="success" %}
The key steps are the same, the difference are products which rates apply to&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Step 1. Create a custom zone

<figure><img src="/files/T9uCaeROAiPO8EjbEinN" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Step 2. Add products > Add Shipping zones > Add rates

<figure><img src="/files/wIbI6oWEZB1foLwus1Ts" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Setting up Local delivery rates

### Step 1. Go to Settings > Shipping and delivery > set up Local delivery&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/SUZU8vnADuJN1Cfgf5w9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Step 2. Turn on Local delivery > Choose type of Delivery you want

{% hint style="success" %}
For Shopify's beginners, delivery zones are specified by two ways:

* Postal codes
* Maximum delivery radius&#x20;
  {% endhint %}

#### Choose postal codes

Fill in the postal codes (where you deliver to) and set up rates for these areas

<figure><img src="/files/pnXNw2P7cgUPU0ZRtLfK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can add **conditional pricing rules** that set different delivery charges based on order value thresholds (e.g., $5 delivery for orders over $5, $3 delivery for orders over $10, free delivery over $20)

#### Choose maximum radius

Fill in the maximum radius number you want to deliver and set up the same&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/xjZMCmDaQq1UyjwwA7fR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Step 3. Save your changes and preview on Checkout page&#x20;

# Date requirement

How to make date required for selecting?

{% hint style="success" %}

* For those who display widget on Cart page: You only can choose block Checkout button on Cart page
* For those who display widget on Product page: You only can choose block Add to card button on Product page
  {% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
TROUBLESHOOTING:

* Normally, you can use Automatic Block to block checkout button or add-to-cart button if customers don't select a date
* However, if it doesn't work (especially for custom theme) you need to use Manual Block by filling in Checkout button or Add-to-cart button CSS selector.
  {% endhint %}

# Multiple location management

Once you've installed the app, the locations of your business should be synced from Shopify to the DingDoong app.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/K7VAAQeV2VD99Hjrw77B" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Add new location

"Start by adding your store locations. Click '**Add Location**' and fill in the required details. You can also **turn the fulfillment options on or off for each location.**"

<figure><img src="/files/uKAWaBtNdmp2Bkp98s0S" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Status tab

All locations will be managed in the **'Status' tab**. Here, you can control each fulfillment method, turning local delivery or store pickup on or off for each location. The **'Status' tab** is your **central hub** to **manage where these options are available for customers**.

<figure><img src="/files/wwY9IhJWhWQItNWvZIFR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Pickup settings tab

If **Pickup is enabled** for certain locations in the **'Status'** tab, those locations will also appear in the **'Pickup Settings'** tab. This allows you to **easily edit and schedule** pickup options for each specific location.

<figure><img src="/files/gqDwMYL2EYmv1Qmh651F" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Delivery settings tab

Just like with Pickup, if you **enable Local Delivery** for locations in the 'Status' tab, these locations will appear in the **'Delivery Settings'** tab. Here, you can **edit and schedule** deliveries for **each customer zone** that you service, with the option to group zones for easier control of same-day delivery.

By default, we create a **'Default Zone'** for scheduling local deliveries to accessible customer areas.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/InU97qRHPvW9Q8WiaSnx" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<mark style="background-color:green;">Note:</mark> A **zone** represents **a specific customer area** you can service with local delivery, divided by location. This setup allows you to manage delivery zones for each store location efficiently and group zones for same-day deliveries as needed.

<mark style="background-color:orange;">Example.</mark> Let’s look at the example below to understand how delivery zones work.

Take an example of delivery zones for a store in **Central London, UK**, using postal codes to define the areas:

1. **Same-Day Delivery Zone**:
   * **Zone Name**: Central London - Same-Day Delivery
   * **Postal Codes Covered**: WC1, WC2, EC1, EC2, EC3, EC4 (covering areas like Covent Garden, Bloomsbury, and the City of London).
   * **Delivery Cut-off Time**: Orders placed by 1:00 PM qualify for same-day delivery; orders after this time will be scheduled for next day.
   * **Delivery Hours**: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
   * **Days Available**: Monday to Saturday.
2. **Two-Day Delivery Zone**:
   * **Zone Name**: Greater London - Two-Day Delivery
   * **Postal Codes Covered**: SW1, NW1, SE1, N1, E1 (expanding to cover areas like Westminster, Camden, South Bank, and Shoreditch).
   * **Delivery Schedule**: Orders delivered within two business days.
   * **Delivery Hours**: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
   * **Days Available**: Monday to Friday.

"You can **edit, duplicate, or delete** each zone, as well as **add new delivery zones** as needed."

<figure><img src="/files/qVF088bXQv0iRJBsQeYa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Delivery Overview

Before configuring your **Delivery settings,** make sure to **turn on delivery** for the locations where you offer local delivery in the **'Status' tab**.

{% content-ref url="/pages/3hZ0Fhul3qUHDEY7aE2N" %}
[MULTIPLE LOCATIONS](/multiple-locations/multiple-location-management)
{% endcontent-ref %}

Once your business locations are set up, you can easily edit the local delivery schedule for each location in the **'Delivery Settings'** tab.

<figure><img src="/files/uU5UhQ2nqct2sdugAIfk" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Activate delivery zone

To enable local delivery for each location, make sure to **activate your default zone**.

<figure><img src="/files/8TCZItXsa87T0k9fCRDI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can **edit your zone name** to differentiate between various delivery areas and ranges by clicking on **'Edit Settings'.**

<figure><img src="/files/n8x2RX8JLLslajs8MtVt" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

As a result, a modal will appear where you can change your zone name. This change will also be reflected in the table outside.

<figure><img src="/files/XLjWoznlxp9fYnpoEBeV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Local delivery settings

In the detailed **Local Delivery settings**, you’ll spend most of your time configuring this tab, which helps you answer the following questions:

* Can you offer Local Delivery in this delivery zone?
* Where do you want to deliver to? (defined by postal code)
* When will the product become available for delivery?
* What date and time range can you deliver the product?"

<figure><img src="/files/xPUCCVWDSvgSI9QyTvM4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Delivery Validator

## Delivery validator

The Delivery Validator is a method used to verify if a customer is located within your local delivery area.&#x20;

It compares the zip/postal code or address entered by customers at the storefront with the valid zip/postal codes or permitted delivery areas you have established. If there is a match, customers can proceed to select their desired delivery date and time. Conversely, if there is no match, they will be unable to proceed with selecting a delivery date.

<figure><img src="/files/MFXEO4EFxe4zTKp8Vnb9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you have multiple locations, each with different delivery settings, the zip/postal code or address entered by buyers helps identify which location is responsible for handling the order. This ensures that the order is assigned to the appropriate location based on the customer's location. The delivery date for that specific location will be adapted to accommodate the order.&#x20;

A delivery area validator is required at each location offering local delivery. Customize the permitted delivery areas for each location to provide accurate options based on specific regions served.

## **How to validate delivery location?**

<figure><img src="/files/fKGQ9wVSaKcMnbaMDWRo" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you opt to enable local delivery for a specific location, it is mandatory to select at least one method to validate your customer's delivery eligibility for that location:

1. [Exact postal/zip code matching](/local-delivery/delivery-validator/exact-postal-code-matching)
2. [Partial postal/zip code matching](/local-delivery/delivery-validator/partial-postal-code-matching)

Go to [Widget Appearance](/widget-settings/widget-appearance) and [Widget Text](broken://pages/F2pIbRruYHexXNkqbDPl) to set up the delivery validator widget's display, based on the preview to keep your settings on the right track

{% hint style="success" %}
Reach out to us via the email [**contact@omegatheme.com**](mailto:contact@omegatheme.com) if you stumble upon something hard to solv&#x65;**.** Any messages from you are greatly appreciated!
{% endhint %}

# Exact Postal Code Matching

## Exact Postal Code Matching Method

Exact postal code matching method checks if the customer's location is eligible for local delivery by checking exactly the postal code/zip code that he put in the widget

{% hint style="success" %}
This approach should be used if your delivery area is limited to **a few postal/zip codes**. In case you deliver to a large number of eligible postal codes, our [Partial matching method](broken://pages/NOgnHzez1gv3IXa6Fz0G) may be a better option
{% endhint %}

## How Does The Exact Postal Code Matching Method Work?

You will need to **enter at least a valid exact postal code** to enable delivery zone&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/a7ocsnsoLr78hikaHVLi" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Your customers will need to enter their postal/zip codes in the widget to check if delivery is available

<figure><img src="/files/BEyygp8e6hfEufDCG9ng" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If the postal code exactly matches one of the postal codes/zip codes that you define in your delivery conditions setting, the customer will be able to proceed

<figure><img src="/files/KxQMr5cGafD1yZliuERQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If the postal code does not match any postal code/zip code that you set on your back end, the consumer will be unable to proceed further

<figure><img src="/files/xQhiJzd9WGfs38l8MOgy" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## How To Enable The Exact Postal Code Matching Method?

Step 1: At the **Delivery zone** section, tick to choose **Exact postal code match**

Step 3: **Fill in the blanks** with valid postal codes. Click the **Add button** to insert them

<figure><img src="/files/G5cW6d7JgKE9gGiPfxTn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<mark style="background-color:purple;">\*Note:</mark>&#x20;

* You can add postal codes **one by one or in bulk**, but remember to <mark style="color:green;">**separate each postal code with a comma**</mark> so that the zone can be defined and local delivery will work.
* &#x20;If you have a large number of postal codes, please **contact our support team** for immediate assistance.

# Partial Postal Code Matching

## Partial Postal Code Matching Method

Partial postal code matching method checks if the customer's location is eligible for delivery by checking partly the postal code/zip code that he put in the widget

{% hint style="success" %}
This approach should be used if you deliver to **a large number of eligible postal codes**.

It saves you a lot of time since instead of inputting exactly each postal code one by one, you only enter some of the characters that must be matched and use an underscore "\_" to denote the rest of the postal/zip codes.
{% endhint %}

## How Does The Partial Postal Code Matching Method Work?

You will need to **enter at least a valid partial postal code** in the delivery conditions setting

<figure><img src="/files/92gtniiEFJS1yniHQh7T" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<mark style="background-color:purple;">\*Note:</mark>&#x20;

The partial postal code matching method is not counteractive to the exact postal code one since its sole goal is to save merchants time by eliminating the need to manually enter different zip codes. Hence, you can use the method in order to check the exactly valid postal codes as well.&#x20;

Your customers will need to enter their postal/zip codes in the widget to check if delivery is available

<figure><img src="/files/7lZiGV6Prd38anEYtVFn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If the postal code that the customer input matches one of the partial postal codes that you set in your delivery conditions setting, the customer will be able to proceed

**Example:**

&#x20;You set the valid partial postal code to 94\_. Some valid postal codes is **94**502, **94**XJK, **94** 7TV,...

&#x20;You set the valid partial postal code to \_76. Some valid postal codes is 502**76**, XJK**76**, 7TV **76**,...

<figure><img src="/files/x1YOUMG2eOqi0gwP1dof" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If the postal code does not match any part of the partial postal code/zip code that you set on your back end, the consumer will be unable to proceed further

<figure><img src="/files/xPXKWvG7S0rHxnubTgtf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## How To Enable The Partial Postal Code Matching Method?

Step 1: At the **Delivery zone** section, tick to choose **Partial postal code match**

Step 2: **Fill in the blanks** with valid postal codes. Click the **Add button** to insert them

<figure><img src="/files/vm9QhSrxcWQ66hv2q9xP" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Maximum Distance Radius

## Maximum Radius Method&#x20;

The maximum radius method checks if the customer's location is eligible for delivery by checking the address that he put in the widget. That address will need to be within the radius you specified in your delivery condition settings.

{% hint style="success" %}
To use this feature, you need a **Distance Matrix API key**
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:purple;">How to get the API key:</mark>

**Step 1: Choose or create a new project**

1. Go to the [Google Cloud Console](https://console.cloud.google.com/home/dashboard)
2. Click the project drop-down and select or create the project for which you want to add an API key&#x20;

**Step 2: Create an API key**

1. Click the menu button and select Google Maps Platform > Credentials
2. On the Credentials page, click + Create Credentials > API key&#x20;

**Step 3: Enable Distance Matrix API**

1. Click the menu button and select APIs
2. On the APIs page, choose Distance Matrix API and enable it

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVoHv7EQvGs>" %}

{% hint style="success" %}
You have to own a paid Google Cloud Project to be able to get a valid API key.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
You can use the same API key and enable **Places API** if you also use Store pickup function and want to show your store location on the map.
{% endhint %}

## How Does The Maximum Radius Method Work?

You will need to **enter your key location** and **pick the maximum radius** approved to deliver in the delivery conditions setting

<figure><img src="/files/jnuSrZNGdJZRgibGbqjd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Your customers will need to enter their address in the widget to check if delivery is available

![](/files/3CWgQNdgvgwqHCZttMR6)

If the address that the customer entered in the widget falls within the radius you specified in your delivery condition settings, he will be able to proceed

![](/files/nxIu6FA9u9NAbOKlw9OV)

If the address that the customer entered in the widget is out of the radius you specified in your delivery condition settings, he will be unable to proceed further

![](/files/q7x2RrEmu2FCwVqJlDYQ)

## How To Enable The Maximum Radius Method?

**Step 1**: At the DELIVERY LOCATION VALIDATOR section, tick to choose **Maximum radius**&#x20;

**Step 2**: Enter your valid [Google API key](broken://pages/ifeJczqcfn8QrgmkoMNA)

# Maximum Driving Distance

## Maximum Driving Distance Method&#x20;

The maximum driving distance method checks if the customer's location is eligible for delivery by checking the address that he put in the widget. That address will need to be within the driving distance you specified in your delivery condition settings

{% hint style="success" %}
To use this feature, you need a **Distance Matrix API key**
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:purple;">How to get the API key:</mark>

**Step 1: Choose or create a new project**

1. Go to the [Google Cloud Console](https://console.cloud.google.com/home/dashboard)
2. Click the project drop-down and select or create the project for which you want to add an API key&#x20;

**Step 2: Create an API key**

1. Click the menu button and select Google Maps Platform > Credentials
2. On the Credentials page, click + Create Credentials > API key&#x20;

**Step 3: Enable Distance Matrix API**

1. Click the menu button and select APIs
2. On the APIs page, choose Distance Matrix API and enable it

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVoHv7EQvGs>" %}

{% hint style="success" %}
You have to own a paid Google Cloud Project to be able to get a valid API key.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
You can use the same API key and enable **Places API** if you also use Store pickup function and want to show your store location on the map.
{% endhint %}

## How Does The Maximum Driving Distance Method Work?

You will need to **enter your key location** and **pick the maximum driving distance** approved to deliver in the delivery conditions setting.

<figure><img src="/files/KQewBXL2Mk3qdguzHhQG" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Your customers will need to enter their address in the widget to check if delivery is available

![](/files/dG0SD2jsC19HGaXfql8T)

If the address that the customer entered in the widget falls within the driving distance you specified in your delivery condition settings, he will be able to proceed

![](/files/Y99VoeXw0WgoDMNZzmOb)

If the address that the customer entered in the widget is out of the radius you specified in your delivery condition settings, he will be unable to proceed further

![](/files/QTvYCyiHaIB0kue0ayFt)

## How To Enable The Maximum Driving Distance Method?

**Step 1**: At the DELIVERY LOCATION VALIDATOR section, tick to choose **Maximum driving distance**

**Step 2**: Enter your valid Google API key

**Step 3**: Type your key location to set the driving distance for

**Step 4**: Pick the country for your key location

**Step 5**: Pick the state/city for your key location

**Step 6:** Tick to choose means of transportation that wouldn't be counted in driving distance

**Step 7**: Decide to check radius restriction by **km** or **mile** and then pick the maximum radius that you allow to deliver

**Step 8**: Click the **Save** button

<mark style="background-color:purple;">\*Note:</mark>&#x20;

All of the fields must be filled in to have the method make sense. Therefore, kindly complete all fields without omitting any of them.

# Local delivery choice & delivery avaibility&#x20;

## Requirements

* You need to DingDoong in your theme so all your settings for local delivery will work in storefront
* If you haven't enabled our app yet, please follow the steps in **How to embed app in** [How to create a test theme?](/how-to-create-a-test-theme)

***

## Local delivery choice&#x20;

Once you enable the local delivery zone, you'll need to configure the type of delivery scheduling you'd like to offer your customers. You can choose from three options:

* **Single Date**
* **Date with Exact Time**
* **Date with Time Range**

<figure><img src="/files/NJtV1saKYbuZE4g2DsTc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After selecting the type of delivery scheduling you want to set up, go to **Delivery Availability** to define your delivery working days and the times you offer to customers.

## Single date&#x20;

If you provide local delivery to customers on a specific date without specifying a time, in **Delivery Availability**, simply select the days you offer local delivery and define your working days.

**DingDoong** allows you to choose from the following options:

* Offer local delivery every day of the week.
* Offer local delivery on specific days of the week.
* Offer local delivery on specific dates of the year.

<figure><img src="/files/0IRobzQNGSE1eys6SGHo" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Date with exact time & Date with time range&#x20;

With these two options, our app allows you to set delivery times in two different ways: **Fixed Time** and **Time Range**.

<figure><img src="/files/Pf6kYOhJmqZ6FhO5xNqH" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Add fixed time

To add a time, please select your desired time ***(in 12-hour format)*** and click **Add Time**.

<figure><img src="/files/D14PGCA07rvhpqaIHP94" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Add time range&#x20;

To add a time range, select your desired time range and click **Add Time**.

<figure><img src="/files/54BSRYLVxnObwGy5DFJ1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Save time with Copy setup from&#x20;

If you’re setting up different schedules for each day of the week, you can save time by setting up the first day with your desired times, then selecting **Copy Setup From** to apply it to other days.

<figure><img src="/files/0Jcm5YGAoMsTddWQZMcD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
Typically, non-working days are included in prep time calculations. If you don't want to include them, change this in [General Settings](/general-settings/general-settings#decide-whether-to-count-non-working-days-in-prep-day)
{% endhint %}

# &#x20;Limit orders

## **Limit orders**

Limit orders based on delivery slots (delivery date & time), not by the date & time on which the orders were placed.

Depending on the limitation of your resources, this ensures you only promise to deliver a certain number of orders per day/ time slot.

<figure><img src="/files/o0RJ9oteiv06tnLP5JE9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once you have reach the limit for that day, the day will be counted as a Blackout date (holiday) and will push the remaining prep time/delivery time forward.&#x20;

If you have to handle too many order requests during your high peak time or high seasons like Christmas or Black Friday, **limiting the number of deliveries per time slot** is a good choice.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/F5Wa4YXFwEmIUVZ4IOlS" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Time slots**: Time slots when you are able to offer delivery. Decide your suitable intervals and the maximum number of orders for each of them.

<figure><img src="/files/Es9bsYNyden6ECoj3GxS" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
Reach out to us via the email [**contact@omegatheme.com**](mailto:contact@omegatheme.com) if you stumble upon something hard to solv&#x65;**.** Any messages from you guys are greatly appreciated!
{% endhint %}

# Blackout dates (Holidays)

**Blackout dates**: The dates or holidays you don't offer delivery. The selected ones will be disabled in the calendar to prevent customers from selecting them for delivery.

<figure><img src="/files/KzZgw3V0UCa5d5WKjgTX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
You can choose a single date or choose a date range for blackout dates&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Order Tag

DingDoong will automatically add a date tag to orders whose delivery dates are chosen through the app’s date picker.

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/cDj7vaQH7j0yN6UDnFld" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Besides, you can always choose to add other tags to the orders if that helps you better manage your business.

E.g. Add a “DingDoong” tag to easily filter orders going through DingDoong, in case you have multiple types of tags added to your orders by other apps.

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/6FpOexWU9JLUkN6bt9BW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

# Product avaibility

### Apply General rules for all products

If all your products can satisfy the date and time rules you set above for local delivery, choose to activate these rules for all products.

<figure><img src="/files/VaiNb2KvpzpqqKCkuDb3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Apply General rules for specific products

{% hint style="success" %}
Apply the general date & time rules to a set of products
{% endhint %}

Select a product or sets of products by selecting “include” here if the general rules only apply to them:

<figure><img src="/files/cck0HcJAp0fXjuDJZIHu" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you want to apply the general rules to everything except some certain product(s), configure that in “exclude”.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/bDa1xDsmdNvY1npXkqMi" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
The app will be disabled for the products which are set "Exclude" in General Rules and not set any specific rules at the same time&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Product Override

## Product Override

Unless your business is a one-product store, you might sometimes need to activate different local delivery rules for different products.

By default, the umbrella rules you set for date and time will apply to what you define in **Product Availability**. However, you can always choose to define different rules for some specific products in **Product Override**

**E.g**. Your bakery only offers local delivery for cakes without ice cream on top and customers can pick between 2 days. You will apply a general rule for those collections. For some specialties that have ice cream, you can only deliver them on the same day because you don’t have the capacity to preserve them for longer. This is when you need to tailor the rules for the odd ones out.

{% content-ref url="/pages/n59MwlsBNqkeLFlnHNC6" %}
[Set product-specific preparation time](/local-delivery/delivery-scheduling/product-override/set-product-specific-preparation-time)

[What happens when a cart has different products with different rules?](/local-delivery/delivery-scheduling/product-override/what-happens-when-a-cart-has-different-products-with-different-rules)
{% endcontent-ref %}

# Set product-specific preparation time

## Set product-specific preparation time

**Step 1**: Go to the **Product Override** section and choose **Override preparation/delivery days**

**Step 2**: Choose the products you want to apply for the override preparation/delivery days rule

**Step 3**: Configure the delivery preparation time, delivery date range

**Preparation days**: the number of working days you need to get an order ready for shipment. Consider extra time if your product is not available.

**Delivery date range**: A date range available for customers to pick when to receive the order. Consider an acceptable date range to ensure that your product is ready for delivery and remains usable.'

<figure><img src="/files/NaN633kPP4AHCREAPbiJ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
If one specific product is activated by both general rules + specific rules (because you add it to both), the app will prioritize the specific rules for this specific product and discard the general rules for it.
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:purple;">Let's take a specific example with a cake product:</mark>

Suppose there is a general rule that states the standard preparation time for all products is 1 day, and the delivery date range is 5 days.

Now, there is a specific rule for the cake product that requires a longer preparation time of 2 days and must be delivered within 3 days.

If the cake product is activated by both the general and specific rules, the app will prioritize the specific rule for the cake. This means the cake will have a preparation time of 2 days and be delivered within 3 days, overriding the general rules.

# Set product-specific available dates & time

## **Set product-specific available dates & time**

**Step 1**: Go to the **Product Override** section and choose **Specific available dates & time**

**Step 2**: Choose the products you want to apply for the specific available dates & time rule

**Step 3**: Select the date and time of the availability (required). Click on Add to add the timing.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/3DF0IAmXIIqlMUMWx3Vc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
If one specific product is activated by both general rules + specific rules (because you add it to both), the app will prioritize the specific rules for this specific product and discard the general rules for it.
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:purple;">Let's take a specific example with a flower product:</mark>&#x20;

Suppose there is a general rule that states flowers can be delivered from Monday to Friday, its preparation day is 1, and the delivery date range is 5. So if customers place an order on June 06th (Wednesday). So the available dates customers can choose for delivery are June 7, June 8, June 9, June 12, and June 13 (June 10th: Saturday, June 11th: Sunday).

Now, there is a specific rule set up for a particular flower product (roses) that specifies it can only be delivered on specific dates, such as June 10th and June 25th.&#x20;

If the particular flower product (roses) is activated by both the general and specific rules, the app will prioritize the specific rule for the roses. This means the roses will be only delivered on June 10th and June 25th, overriding the general rules.

# Set product-specific blackout dates & time

## **Set product-specific blackout dates & time**

**Step 1:** Go to the **Product Override** section and choose **Specific blackout dates & time**

**Step 2**: Choose the products you want to apply for the specific blackout dates & time rule

**Step 3**: Select the date and time of the blackout (required). Click on Add to add the timing.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/jWanJ6KihILzBbh3Hjm7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
If one specific product is activated by both general rules + specific rules (because you add it to both), the app will prioritize the specific rules for this specific product and discard the general rules for it.
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:purple;">Let's take a specific example with a food product:</mark>

Suppose there is a general rule that states all your food can be delivered from June 05 to June 12

Now, there is a specific rule set up for your salad that specifies it can't be delivered on June 07 and  June 09.&#x20;

If your salad is activated by both the general and specific rules, the app will prioritize the specific rule. This means the salad will be only delivered on June 05, June 06, June 08, June 10, June 11, and June 12, overriding the general rules.

To save you time on manually adding pickup times, we offer a **Pickup Slot Interval** feature with **fixed time ranges of 10, 15, 20, 30, and 60 minutes.**&#x20;

Simply select your **desired start and end times**, and the system will **automatically handle** the intervals for you.

<figure><img src="/files/3KTZ7BVko8ONnakp2JLc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Eg. If you select a pickup slot interval of "Every 10 minutes" from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the system will automatically create slots in your storefront like this: 9:00 - 9:10, 9:10 - 9:20, and so on.
{% endhint %}

You also have the option to create a custom time range by choosing the **"Custom" pickup slot interval.**

To add a time range, select your desired time range and click **Add Time**.

# Preparation time & date range

Store owners now have the flexibility to control which pickup or delivery days are displayed to customers on their store site by configuring **preparation and cut-off times.**

{% hint style="info" %}
Preparation time is the time store owners need to get a product or service ready for delivery. It decides which delivery slots customers can see first—only slots that allow enough preparation time will be shown.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Cut-off time** refers to the latest time by which an order must be **placed in order to be eligible for same-day or next-day delivery.** Orders placed after the cut-off time will typically be scheduled for delivery on a later date.
{% endhint %}

## Example

* **Store offers pickup on:** Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
* **Prep time for regular orders:** 3 days.
* **Cut-off time for same-week pickup:** 1 PM on Sunday.
* **Pre-order products:** Orders placed after 1 PM on Sunday will only see pickup slots available **after 1 week**.

#### Step-by-Step Setup:

1. **Set Prep Time for Regular Orders (3 days):**
   * For regular orders placed before **1 PM on Sunday**, set the **prep time** to **3 days**.
   * This means that if a customer places an order on **Sunday before 1 PM**, the available pickup slots will begin on **Wednesday** (3 days after Sunday).
2. **Set Cut-off Time (1 PM on Sunday):**
   * The **cut-off time** is when the system will prevent same-week pickup slots from being available for orders placed after this time.
   * In this case, set the **cut-off time** to **1 PM on Sunday**. This means that any order placed after 1 PM on Sunday will not be eligible for pickup slots in the current week.
3. **Set Delay Days for Pre-Order Products (10 days):**
   * For pre-order products, you want to show pickup slots that are **available after 1 week** from the order date.
   * Set the **delay days** for pre-order products to **10 days**. This means that if a customer places a pre-order after **1 PM on Sunday**, they will only see available pickup slots starting from **the following Wednesday**, which is 10 days later

## Enable preparation time

If you need time to prepare an order for pickup, you can enable preparation time by selecting **Enable**. Once enabled, it will appear as shown below:

<figure><img src="/files/JwckKFn808AAHb7RwZ0T" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* If you need the same preparation time for every day, select **"Same preparation time each day."**
* If your preparation time varies by day, select **"Different preparation time each day."**

{% hint style="info" %}
Preparation time is measured in **days, hours, and minutes.**

* **If you set preparation time to 0 days**, it means you offer **same-day delivery** **or pickup.** For example, if you allow delivery or pickup on Monday and customers visit your site on Monday, they can place an order and receive it on the same day.
* **If you set preparation time to 24 hours**, the countdown starts from when the customer adds a product to their cart. Customers will only see the nearest delivery or pickup slots that meet the 24-hour preparation requirement.
  {% endhint %}

## Enable cut-off time

If you need to set a cut-off time for orders on specific days of the week, simply tick the **"Add a cut-off time"** option.

<figure><img src="/files/jBuGqxboo0ZERoYLoUak" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Delay time:** After the cut-off time, the delay time is the period that the store wants buyers to wait before seeing the available pickup or delivery slots that meet the store's set delay time requirements.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
By default, the cut-off time is set to 6:00 PM, and the delay time is set to 2 days. This means that if a customer places an order after 6:00 PM, the earliest available delivery slot they will see will be 2 days later, to account for the delay time. For example, if an order is placed at 7:00 PM, the customer will only be able to choose a delivery date that's at least 2 days in the future.
{% endhint %}

## Configure date range&#x20;

If you want to limit how far into the future customers can choose for their pickup, you can set up a **date range**. This allows you to control how many days in advance customers can select a pickup slot.

Simply **enter the number of days (the range) you want to allow for pickup.**&#x20;

**For example,** if you set the range to 7 days, customers will only be able to choose a pickup date within the next 7 days from the first available date.

<figure><img src="/files/mewz6e71PCZnynmQn0tF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By default, the date range for pickup is calculated in **days, months, or weeks,** starting from the moment the customer visits the product page and adds an item to their cart.

If you want to offer regular pickup for up to 1 year, you can enter **365 days** as the date range.

# Limit orders

## **Limit orders**

Limit orders based on pickup slots (pickup date & time), not by the date & time on which the orders were placed.

Depending on the limitation of your resources, this ensures you only promise to pickup a certain number of orders per day/ time slot.

<figure><img src="/files/TP7FqRIeexUwJgP7SU2A" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once you have reach the limit for that day, the day will be counted as a Blackout date (holiday) and will push the remaining prep time/delivery time forward.&#x20;

If you have to handle too many order requests during your high peak time or high seasons like Christmas or Black Friday, **limiting the number of pickup per time slot** is a good choice.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
Reach out to us via the email [**contact@omegatheme.com**](mailto:contact@omegatheme.com) if you stumble upon something hard to solv&#x65;**.** Any messages from you guys are greatly appreciated!
{% endhint %}

# Blackout dates (Holidays)

**Blackout dates**: The dates or holidays you don't offer pickup. The selected ones will be disabled in the calendar to prevent customers from selecting them for pickup.

<figure><img src="/files/33JjYyebtIx5uHMuUp4v" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Order Tag

DingDoong will automatically add a date tag to orders whose pickup dates are chosen through the app’s date picker.

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/cDj7vaQH7j0yN6UDnFld" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Besides, you can always choose to add other tags to the orders if that helps you better manage your business.

E.g. Add a “DingDoong” tag to easily filter orders going through DingDoong, in case you have multiple types of tags added to your orders by other apps.

<figure><img src="/files/fRPBZN8YsuAHqcf8qA25" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Product avaibility

### Apply General rules for all products

If all your products can satisfy the date and time rules you set above for local delivery, choose to activate these rules for all products.

<figure><img src="/files/VaiNb2KvpzpqqKCkuDb3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Apply General rules for specific products

{% hint style="success" %}
Apply the general date & time rules to a set of products
{% endhint %}

Select a product or sets of products by selecting “include” here if the general rules only apply to them:

<figure><img src="/files/cck0HcJAp0fXjuDJZIHu" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you want to apply the general rules to everything except some certain product(s), configure that in “exclude”.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/bDa1xDsmdNvY1npXkqMi" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
The app will be disabled for the products which are set "Exclude" in General Rules and not set any specific rules at the same time&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# &#x20;Product Override

{% hint style="success" %}
If one specific product is activated by both general rules + specific rules (because you add it to both), the app will prioritize the specific rules for this specific product and discard the general rules for it.
{% endhint %}

**Step 3**: Select the date and time of the availability (required). Click on Add to add the timing.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/3DF0IAmXIIqlMUMWx3Vc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
If one specific product is activated by both general rules + specific rules (because you add it to both), the app will prioritize the specific rules for this specific product and discard the general rules for it.
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:purple;">Let's take a specific example with a flower product:</mark>&#x20;

Now, there is a specific rule set up for a particular flower product (roses) that specifies it can only be delivered on specific dates, such as June 10th and June 25th.&#x20;

**Step 3**: Select the date and time of the blackout (required). Click on Add to add the timing.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/jWanJ6KihILzBbh3Hjm7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
If one specific product is activated by both general rules + specific rules (because you add it to both), the app will prioritize the specific rules for this specific product and discard the general rules for it.
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:purple;">Let's take a specific example with a food product:</mark>

Suppose there is a general rule that states all your food can be delivered from June 05 to June 12

Now, there is a specific rule set up for your salad that specifies it can't be delivered on June 07 and  June 09.&#x20;

If your salad is activated by both the general and specific rules, the app will prioritize the specific rule. This means the salad will be only delivered on June 05, June 06, June 08, June 10, June 11, and June 12, overriding the general rules.

Although at the shipping option, there is also a date picker available for customers to choose their preferred date and time, it is important to note that it does not correspond to the local delivery options where a delivery location validator is required.

Unlike local delivery, shipping does not have limitations on the areas you can deliver to. This means that the delivery estimate, including preparation days and delivery date range, may differ from what you have set up for the local delivery option. Therefore, it is crucial to carefully calculate the preparation days and delivery date ranges for shipping to ensure they meet your customers' expectations.

# Shipping choice & avaibility

## Requirements

* You need to DingDoong in your theme so all your settings for shipping will work in storefront
* If you haven't enabled our app yet, please follow the steps in **How to embed app in** [How to create a test theme?](/how-to-create-a-test-theme)

***

## Shipping choice&#x20;

Once you enable shipping method you'll need to configure the type of delivery scheduling you'd like to offer your customers. You can choose from three options:

* **Single Date**
* **Date with Exact Time**
* **Date with Time Range**

<figure><img src="/files/vU1La3gQ3OMvzP91a65K" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After selecting the type of delivery scheduling you want to set up, go to **Shipping Availability** to define your shipping working days and the times you offer to customers.

## Single date&#x20;

If you provide shipping to customers on a specific date without specifying a time, in **Shipping Availability**, simply select the days you offer shipping and define your working days.

**DingDoong** allows you to choose from the following options:

* Offer shipping every day of the week.
* Offer shipping on specific days of the week.
* Offer shipping on specific dates of the year.

<figure><img src="/files/kHbdJ1UUUgotGgYKmC4j" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Date with exact time & Date with time range&#x20;

With these two options, our app allows you to set shipping times in two different ways: **Fixed Time** and **Time Range**.

<figure><img src="/files/A0NE815DAAFmWwVtr7gf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Add fixed time

To add a time, please select your desired time ***(in 12-hour format)*** and click **Add Time**.

<figure><img src="/files/hOt2Fonnge1bQROsRkW4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Add time range&#x20;

To add a time range, select your desired time range and click **Add Time**.

<figure><img src="/files/6n6lfLuuMhQud1u4VHfb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Save time with Copy setup from&#x20;

If you’re setting up different schedules for each day of the week, you can save time by setting up the first day with your desired times, then selecting **Copy Setup From** to apply it to other days.

<figure><img src="/files/Od1UqEbGWA7jWEHcnwa5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
Typically, non-working days are included in prep time calculations. If you don't want to include them, change this in [General Settings](/general-settings/general-settings#decide-whether-to-count-non-working-days-in-prep-day)
{% endhint %}

# Preparation time & Date range

Store owners now have the flexibility to control which shipping days are displayed to customers on their store site by configuring **preparation and cut-off times.**

{% hint style="info" %}
Preparation time is the time store owners need to get a product or service ready for shipping. It decides which shipping slots customers can see first—only slots that allow enough preparation time will be shown.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Cut-off time** refers to the latest time by which an order must be **placed in order to be eligible for same-day or next-day delivery.** Orders placed after the cut-off time will typically be scheduled for delivery on a later date.
{% endhint %}

## Example

If a store offers shipping on **Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday**, with a **prep time of 3 days,** they can set it up so that customers **who place an order before 1 PM on Sunday** can see the upcoming delivery slots for **regular orders**. However, for **pre-order** products, customers placing orders after 1 PM will only see shipping slots available after 1 week.

Here’s how to set it up:

* Set the prep time before the **cut-off time on Sunday to 3 days.**
* Set the **cut-off time on Sunday to 1 PM** and **delay days to 10 days.**

## Enable preparation time

If you need time to prepare an order for shipping, you can enable preparation time by selecting **Enable**. Once enabled, it will appear as shown below:

<figure><img src="/files/KzjRM5gEfPz3ndBtFHwV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* If you need the same preparation time for every day, select **"Basic settings"**
* If your preparation time varies by day, select **"Advanced settings."**

{% hint style="info" %}
Preparation time is measured in **days, hours, and minutes.**

* **If you set preparation time to 0 days**, it means you offer **same-day shipping.** For example, if you allow shipping on Monday and customers visit your site on Monday, they can place an order and receive it on the same day.
* **If you set preparation time to 24 hours**, the countdown starts from when the customer adds a product to their cart. Customers will only see the nearest shipping slots that meet the 24-hour preparation requirement.
  {% endhint %}

## Enable cut-off time

If you need to set a cut-off time for orders on specific days of the week, simply tick the **"Add a cut-off time"** option.

<figure><img src="/files/olRpZ67QeBeFzgiws0mt" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Delay time:** After the cut-off time, the delay time is the period that the store wants buyers to wait before seeing the available pickup or delivery slots that meet the store's set delay time requirements.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
By default, the cut-off time is set to 6:00 PM, and the delay time is set to 2 days. This means that if a customer places an order after 6:00 PM, the earliest available shipping slot they will see will be 2 days later, to account for the delay time. For example, if an order is placed at 7:00 PM, the customer will only be able to choose a shipping date that's at least 2 days in the future.
{% endhint %}

## Configure date range&#x20;

If you want to limit how far into the future customers can choose for their shipping, you can set up a **date range**. This allows you to control how many days in advance customers can select a shipping slot.

Simply **enter the number of days (the range) you want to allow for shipping.**&#x20;

**For example,** if you set the range to 7 days, customers will only be able to choose a shipping date within the next 7 days from the first available date.

<figure><img src="/files/293IvUmfm9fcV5LVtYIl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
By default, the date range for shipping is calculated in **days, months, or weeks,** starting from the moment the customer visits the product page and adds an item to their cart.

If you want to offer regular shipping for up to 1 year, you can enter **365 days** as the date range.
{% endhint %}

# Limit orders

## **Limit orders**

Limit orders based on delivery slots (delivery date & time), not by the date & time on which the orders were placed.

Depending on the limitation of your resources, this ensures you only promise to deliver a certain number of orders per day/ time slot.

<figure><img src="/files/o0RJ9oteiv06tnLP5JE9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once you have reach the limit for that day, the day will be counted as a Blackout date (holiday) and will push the remaining prep time/delivery time forward.&#x20;

If you have to handle too many order requests during your high peak time or high seasons like Christmas or Black Friday, **limiting the number of deliveries per time slot** is a good choice.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/F5Wa4YXFwEmIUVZ4IOlS" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Time slots**: Time slots when you are able to offer delivery. Decide your suitable intervals and the maximum number of orders for each of them.

<figure><img src="/files/Es9bsYNyden6ECoj3GxS" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
Reach out to us via the email [**contact@omegatheme.com**](mailto:contact@omegatheme.com) if you stumble upon something hard to solv&#x65;**.** Any messages from you guys are greatly appreciated!
{% endhint %}

# Blackout dates (Holidays)

**Blackout dates**: The dates or holidays you don't offer delivery. The selected ones are disabled in the delivery date & time picker on the cart page.

<figure><img src="/files/Bd1qqhi4XKFaoUt7CytU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Order Tag

DingDoong will automatically add a date tag to orders whose pickup dates are chosen through the app’s date picker.

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/cDj7vaQH7j0yN6UDnFld" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Besides, you can always choose to add other tags to the orders if that helps you better manage your business.

E.g. Add a “DingDoong” tag to easily filter orders going through DingDoong, in case you have multiple types of tags added to your orders by other apps.

<figure><img src="/files/fRPBZN8YsuAHqcf8qA25" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# &#x20;Product avaibility

### Apply General rules for all products

If all your products can satisfy the date and time rules you set above for local delivery, choose to activate these rules for all products.

<figure><img src="/files/VaiNb2KvpzpqqKCkuDb3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Apply General rules for specific products

{% hint style="success" %}
Apply the general date & time rules to a set of products
{% endhint %}

Select a product or sets of products by selecting “include” here if the general rules only apply to them:

<figure><img src="/files/cck0HcJAp0fXjuDJZIHu" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you want to apply the general rules to everything except some certain product(s), configure that in “exclude”.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/bDa1xDsmdNvY1npXkqMi" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
The app will be disabled for the products which are set "Exclude" in General Rules and not set any specific rules at the same time&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% content-ref url="/pages/n59MwlsBNqkeLFlnHNC6" %}

{% endcontent-ref %}

{% hint style="success" %}
If one specific product is activated by both general rules + specific rules (because you add it to both), the app will prioritize the specific rules for this specific product and discard the general rules for it.
{% endhint %}

**Step 3**: Select the date and time of the availability (required). Click on Add to add the timing.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/3DF0IAmXIIqlMUMWx3Vc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
If one specific product is activated by both general rules + specific rules (because you add it to both), the app will prioritize the specific rules for this specific product and discard the general rules for it.
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:purple;">Let's take a specific example with a flower product:</mark>&#x20;

Now, there is a specific rule set up for a particular flower product (roses) that specifies it can only be delivered on specific dates, such as June 10th and June 25th.&#x20;

**Step 3**: Select the date and time of the blackout (required). Click on Add to add the timing.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/jWanJ6KihILzBbh3Hjm7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
If one specific product is activated by both general rules + specific rules (because you add it to both), the app will prioritize the specific rules for this specific product and discard the general rules for it.
{% endhint %}

<mark style="background-color:purple;">Let's take a specific example with a food product:</mark>

Suppose there is a general rule that states all your food can be delivered from June 05 to June 12

Now, there is a specific rule set up for your salad that specifies it can't be delivered on June 07 and  June 09.&#x20;

If your salad is activated by both the general and specific rules, the app will prioritize the specific rule. This means the salad will be only delivered on June 05, June 06, June 08, June 10, June 11, and June 12, overriding the general rules.

Consider an acceptable date range to ensure that your product is ready for delivery and remains usable.

<figure><img src="/files/IbTsaQOpkmwnCvpOwUv7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Inventory Management (pending)

Inventory Management is an incredibly useful tool for merchants to manage their stock count, especially when you have 1 source of product supply and multiple points of sales.&#x20;

With inventory management, you can update your stock count once in Shopify admin, then split that number into multiple points of sales.&#x20;

Simply click Connect to Shopify and the stock count from Shopify will be synced to DingDoong.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/9kutosyqfUtI7F88Fm5s" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Note**: Only the available stock will be synced as it is the true amount you can sell.&#x20;

# Warehouse selection (pending)

Depending on your business and your business model, you can select either you have only 1 or multiple sources of stock supply (we call it warehouses).&#x20;

The default selection is 1 warehouse, and you can choose the source location from the list of Shopify locations you set up.

<figure><img src="/files/J2eFH8UOT7ByVNGz19hO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Alternatively, you can select that you have multiple warehouse, and decide which point of sales get their stock from which.&#x20;

Upon selecting "I have multple warehouses" option, you will be able to select which point of sales get stock from which location.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/7GRLrq0DTVMT6alBNVIF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

A Shopify location can distribute its stock to multiple points of sales (DingDoong locations).

The AVAILABLE stock of that product/variant will be updated on DingDoong.

The total stock count of points of sales mustn't be higher than the stock count in that Shopify location.

# Inventory Control (pending)

Having 1 Shopify location as the source location and multiple points of sales means you have to distribute stock count.&#x20;

### Stock allocation table

<figure><img src="/files/HxiiJ3h4LcKEzSMrLup5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Stock allocation table or Inventory control table should have 6 columns: 5 visible and fixed columns and the last one hidden and changes per the location selected.&#x20;

The meaning of each columns are as followed:

* Product name: Product name.
* Variant: Variant of the product. Each row is a variant, and once hovered, you can see the picture of the product/variant.
* Quantity: The number of available stock for that variant. Note that this number is taken from Shopify. Example: Shopify location A has 100 available stock of that variant, the number in this column will be 100.&#x20;
* Distributed: the total number of stock of that variant which has been allocated to all locations, including the one being selected.
* Undistributed: (Quantity - Distributed), the number of stock left and haven't been allocated to any other locations.&#x20;
* Location's column: this is where the stock moving happens. You can see the number of stock which the warehouse can commit to that location. The default value is 0, and once hover over, you can see the edit icon, and edit the number using the text field. Any editing in this column will change the number in the Distributed and Undistributed column.&#x20;

Due to the fact that stock count can change constantly, we have also provided a refresh button so you can update the latest stock count&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Checkout block due to out-of-stock (pending)

<figure><img src="/files/ynTUEJj1pEpiNN2EwuPY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Normally, we will check to see if the location selected can provide the stock necessary for the order. Even if only 1 variant of that item is out of stock, we will temporary disabled the check out button.&#x20;

Because only 1 fulfillment method can be chosen, the rules for checkout blocking are as followed.&#x20;

### Shipping

If every single item in the cart is available at any single location, checkout per usual.&#x20;

If 1 item in the cart cannot be fulfilled, an error message will be shown and checkout button will be temporarily disabled.&#x20;

### Delivery&#x20;

For delivery date, customers have to input their postal code/address before selecting date.&#x20;

If the postal code/address is valid, the location responsible for that order will be checked to see if it can fulfill the order adequately. If yes, proceed per usual. If not, an error message will be shown and customers can use a different postal code/address.&#x20;

### Pickup

Same as delivery, upon selecting pickup location, the app will check if the chosen location can sufficiently fulfill the entire order.&#x20;

If yes, proceed with checkout per usual. If not, an error message will be shown and the checkout button will be temporarily disabled. Customers can choose another location.&#x20;

# Sell regardless of stock count (Pending)

### Why selling regardless of stock count?

If you know that you can rotate your inventory much faster than you're selling, this feature can be useful.

If you don't want to miss out on new orders and know that you can commit more than you currently have, this feature can be useful.

If you simply want to allow selling regardless of stock count for all products without having to edit each and every products in Shopify admin, this feature can be incredibly useful.&#x20;

### What would happen if you don't sell regardless of stock count?

We will block date picking and checkout per usual!&#x20;

Normally, if there is 1 item in that cart that's out of stock at that specific location, we will disable date picking and check out and display an out-of-stock message.

The out-of-stock message for shipping, delivery and pickup are different by default, and include a variable {product\_name} which will display the specific product or products that are out of stock.&#x20;

### What will happen when you turn it on?

Once turned on, the app will always allow date picker and checkout for every product, regardless of location or stock count.&#x20;

The order's timing, along with the location will still be attached to the order and appear on order report.&#x20;

# Group Order

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tS3UyZuiqng>" %}

## **What's Group Order?**

Group Order can be expressed in many different ways, but it's simple to grasp its meaning with four key points:

* A group order is a buying activity where a group of people joins a shared order link that they can use to place orders together
* Each person adds their own orders to a shared online cart from their own device at the same time
* They also get delivered together to the same location at the same time. Orders are individually packaged and labeled for easy distribution
* The owner pays for the full cart and splits the payment among the invitees later

<figure><img src="/files/iDjOP2sZboy6oTokXTUa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Basically, the feature is a tool that allows people to do group ordering with ease. We do believe that this feature will be the future of e-commerce, because group ordering is not a new practice, especially in food delivery industry now. We do believe that people who do grocery or clothing shopping are doing it frequently as well. What's lacking is something to make the process more convenient.&#x20;

Group Order on DingDoong is here. Be easy to set up, user-friendly, and straightforward on the Shopify store, it is expected to be the unique feature that helps you beat your competition.&#x20;

Be ahead of the game now!

## What are the advantages of joining a group order?

# Customers' flow

<figure><img src="/files/fON8vNviVyrBR9MBlCri" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Your customers get a friendly experience with simple steps:

&#x20;         **1. Create a group order**

A group order is created with a custom name, either at the beginning of shopping when a store is chosen or at check out. A link will be created to invite people. The one who created the group order is the owner of the cart.&#x20;

&#x20; **2.** **Send invitations to friends**

The link is sent to the people whom the owner wishes to invite. Their friends enter their names and start shopping without login

&#x20; **3. Add items to the cart**

Both the owner and their friends can add items to the cart. The owner can see who’s adding what and at what price.

&#x20;       **4. Review the cart**

Everyone finishes their shopping and finalizes their decisions. The group’s owner reviews the cart, decides which one they’re willing to pay for, and edits the final cart. He is the only person who has control of all the invitees’ orders

&#x20; **5. Pick delivery date & time (optional)**

The host consults his invitees to make the final decision on their preferred delivery date and time.

&#x20;      **6. Payment**

The owner of the group pays for everything in the cart, either theirs or their friends'. Their friends pay the owner their due personally.&#x20;

&#x20;      **7. Shipment**

The cart is shipped to the owner’s chosen address.

# Order Report

This tab is where you stay on top of your delivery/store pickup orders, so you'll never miss a single order when it's due. Great insights to manage your operation.

You may see the report in either a calendar or a list format, depending on your preference. Of course, seeing it in both formats is recommended for a thorough order capture.

{% hint style="success" %}
You may examine the orders in greater detail in the list format, including the order title, **delivery date**, **delivery time**, customer, the order status, and delivery method. You have a lot of options, such as sorting orders by method or selecting a certain day or a range of days to view.
{% endhint %}

![](/files/B36iL44lKBAAQOcHnRTN)

{% hint style="success" %}
If you want to examine the orders in an overview and know how many orders by each method there are every day, the calendar format is best suited for you.
{% endhint %}

# Export Order

Many merchants crack their brains to figure out the way to modify their order requests to make order management more convenient and time-consuming.&#x20;

Understand our merchant's pain point, DingDoong has updated a new change, which facilitates merchants to **download all their orders information** in order to easily filter and handle them.

**Step 1**: Click the "**Export Data**" button and enter your **email address** to receive the file export

The file is sent via your email. Make sure to pick the time your orders available to export

![](/files/VnYqRTjefSAeV13N9Xs5)

**Step 2**: **Check your email** and **download the file** to your computer or mobile device, open and make any changes you want.&#x20;

The file you download has a default template. Check it out below!

The file is named “*order\_report\_created date range\_dingdoong*”&#x20;

(Example: order\_report\_2022-06-01-2022-06-30\_dingdoong)

{% file src="/files/InQMkcLnrqPk6FvSG3ij" %}

{% hint style="success" %}
If you get a large number of orders split among several files. The exported file is given in Zip format. To view all of your excel files, just unzip the file
{% endhint %}

**A notable feature** must be considered. In addition to the basic order information fields provided in the Order report tab, the app also **links with Shopify orders** to get further information. You just need one default file to receive all order information from *OrderNo, Product Name, Product SKU, Shipping name, Shipping Phone*,.... to *Order status, Payment method, and Delivery date*.

Filter required information as you see fit

# FAQs

<details>

<summary>What is the purpose of the Custom CSS in the Delivery Date tab?</summary>

Custom CSS is used for adding some custom fields or themes for the date & time picker display at your storefront, apart from the certain changes supported by DingDoong.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens if my customers add 2 products to the cart, one only available for delivery and the other only for store pickup?</summary>

DingDoong are so regretful to inform that the case is currently not supported by our app, hence the date\&time picker would be hidden on the cart page until buyers pick the products activated by the same rules.&#x20;

We do this to minimize merchant losses if they are unable to meet the conflicting requests in the event that buyers pick either delivery or pickup method.

:point\_right:**Other scenarios should be taken into consideration:**

* Customers add product A, product B in the same cart. Product A is enabled by Delivery rules, Product B has no rules applied on it. DingDoong would display Delivery date & time at the storefront on the cart page for customers to pick.
* Customers add product A, product B in the same cart. Product A is enabled by Store Pickup rules, Product B has no rules applied on it. DingDoong wouldn't display any methods for customers to pick.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What timezone will my date picker operate in? Where to set up?</summary>

DingDoong allows merchants to customize their timezone in the onboarding section or the [How to create a test theme?](/how-to-create-a-test-theme)tab.

All the calendars shown at your storefront & date-time in the app will adhere to this timezone.&#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>Will the app disable checkout until a date is selected?</summary>

It's entirely up to you :relaxed:

If you want to activate the rule, put a tick in the box "*Require the delivery date before checkout*" in the [Broken mention](broken://pages/B5cuwRebh0Maf1LQGHlt)tab to set it up.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How many store pickup locations can I add?</summary>

You can add an unlimited number of pickup locations.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Is the order report showing orders by delivery/pickup date or order date?</summary>

You may keep track of your delivery/store pickup orders on the[Order Report](/order-report/order-report-1) tab.

You may examine the orders in greater detail in the list format, including the order number, **delivery/pickup date, delivery/pickup time**, buyer's name, and the order status.&#x20;

### What Scheduled Delivery is and How to set it up&#x20;

Scheduled delivery is a type of fulfillment that gives buyers more flexibility in deciding when their orders are received.

It’s easy to understand that you add a date picker widget on your Shopify store, specifically on the product page or cart page.

After picking products, the buyer would click to choose their preferred delivery date and time from the list of available slots offered by the store owner.

It is highly recommended that they finish their delivery date selection step before checking out. Merchants have the option of making this step become mandatory or optional based on their settings.

Install [the Shopify app](https://apps.shopify.com/delivery-date-omega?utm_source=dingdoongdoc) to enable your date picker on your product page or cart page

**Scheduled delivery is the golden solution for both merchants and their customers**

* This type of delivery offer plays a vital role in increasing online shoppers’ purchasing experience. They no longer have to wait all day just to receive an order that will arrive in less than a minute. Instead of that, they can put their focus on organizing their other daily activities.
* To merchants, scheduled delivery is the ideal option to help them develop and optimize their business operations. They fully have the right to offer date& time slots available for delivery, manage their inventory or supply chain effectively, and never be concerned about overcommitting or having rotten stock

### Why should you offer Scheduled Delivery?

<figure><img src="/files/zI82GOAvAwIojHkGawaf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### **Improve customer experience**

Offer local delivery with a calendar right on the store brings buyers great pleasure.

They no longer need to spend an entire day waiting to receive the order, just to arrange a little window of time to get the order on schedule. Therefore, they can put their focus on their other daily activities without worrying about missing the order.&#x20;

*Imagine how relieved you would be to not be bothered by any calls for delivery when you are having an important meeting or traveling away from home.*

This makes online shoppers’ experiences less stressful because they have a delivery window in mind and prepare to receive their orders when the driver is supposed to knock on their door.

#### **Manage the supply chain & inventory effectively**

Scheduled delivery allows retailers to better manage their supply chains and inventories.

They can determine the lead time for each type of good and provide a reasonable delivery date range that is lengthy enough for fulfillment but still allows the products to be usable.

*Assume you run a bakery; you may completely base the date and time on which the customer chooses to begin preparing it. Alternatively, if you make several cakes before an order is placed, you will run the danger of no one buying them, and be forced to dispose of these cakes since they are unable to be kept fresh over time.*

**Some add-on features are offered**

* **Set cut-off time**

  This enables store owners to stop dispatching orders in case a buyer submits an order at a time when they don't have enough time to prepare goods
* **Limit order per delivery day**

  This enables store owners to limit order requests that they are able to fulfill

[The DingDoong: Delivery+ Pickup app](https://apps.shopify.com/delivery-date-omega?surface_detail=article_id_458) may be an ideal option for you. Date picker widget, delivery\&storepickup rule customization, and order report are what you find out. And, best of all, you can use this app for free indefinitely.

#### **Plan better delivery schedules**

You are free to select the set delivery day that best suits your needs. You sell cakes and can deliver them only on Fridays and Saturdays, spending the other days gathering orders and preparing.

Or, provided that you sell salad and ice cream and offer same-day delivery, but you are unable to prepare all ingredients for all goods, so you can only activate delivery on Wednesday for salad and Friday for ice cream.

It's simple to set up with a few basic steps[.](https://apps.shopify.com/delivery-date-omega?surface_detail=article_id_458)

#### **Eliminate operation costs**

Determine the precise moment the buyer is able to receive the purchase so that drivers do not have to deliver it many times, resulting in a lower return rate. Merchants save time and money by not having to handle return orders.

Orders with the same delivery route and time range can be delivered at the same time. As a result, retailers may reduce the number of deliveries and vehicles they must rent.

#### **Make fulfillment easily**

Retailers are free from calls or disruption. They have time to stay focused on improving the other important component of their business.

### Who Should Offer Scheduled Delivery?

Scheduled delivery is a feasible choice for any sort of business since it enhances the customer experience.

However, it is more effective for certain businesses than others.

*If you sell items that have to be handled with special care, as the case with pharmacy delivery, then it makes sense to know when you have to fulfill orders.*

*It also benefits you if you sell fresh products: food, flowers, or groceries which are unable to kept fresh over time.*

# How to restrict delivery areas for Shopify stores?

<figure><img src="/files/6RIrRnK9nmKR0Dm2LN8A" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This article will show you how to change Shipping settings in Shopify and use a Shopify app to limit locations to which deliveries are permitted.

You'll grab:

1. Local delivery: A shipping strategy for small business owners
2. Why you should restrict delivery areas for local delivery service
3. How to restrict delivery areas by changing Shipping settings in Shopify
4. How to restrict delivery areas by using a Shopify app

If you are finding an ideal solution to power your business, let’s enjoy the article.

### Local delivery: A shipping strategy for small business owners

The global pandemic Covid 19 has changed consumer buying habits as well as small business owners’ shipping strategies. According to [Shopify’s consumer trends data](https://www.shopify.com/blog/consumer-trends), it’s easy to witness an *increase in online shopping, an appetite for virtual experiences, more adoption of local pickup and delivery methods, and widespread support for small, independent businesses.*

Shipping delays and unpredictable shipping costs during the pandemic period make the customer experience worse than ever. Therefore, many buyers find out local businesses for their order delivery. It’s also a way for people to **support their neighborhood businesses** and maintain their local economy. They desire community more than ever due to the terrible physical distance they suffer throughout the epidemic.

More and more brick-and-mortar businesses and online retailers are switching to a new shipping strategy to **generate more sales and foster sustained growth**. They connect with customers nearby to build loyal customers and attract new ones. They crave a place for themselves within their community. [Data from Shopify](https://news.shopify.com/deals-deliveries-and-demand-shopifys-latest-insights-show-strong-shopper-interest-and-spend-this-black-fridaycyber-monday) indicates that when merchants provide convenient ordering choices like local pickup and local delivery, online buyers spend 23 percent more and have a 25 percent larger cart size, and the conversion rate for online customers who choose local pickup or local delivery instead of shipping at checkout was higher by 13% and 19%, respectively.&#x20;

The adoption of local delivery has been accelerated by COVID-19, but it is also anticipated to become **an e-commerce trend in the future** when online retailers can handle delivery independently, have better control over the delivery process, optimize the delivery route, and control shipping costs without relying on shipping carriers.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/P18OrM54yilY3Phko4Es" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Why you should restrict delivery areas

The most crucial decision you must make before enabling local delivery for your Shopify store is how you will handle logistics for local deliveries, including **where will you deliver from and How far will you travel to deliver orders.**&#x20;

Limiting the delivery location helps you **avoid being overloaded** when there is not enough staff to deliver goods to multiple locations. It also helps you focus on the delivery locations that provide you with the greatest economic benefits such as saving time and shipping costs and being suitable for your products and business strategy.

Additionally, limiting the places that are not allowed for local delivery **makes fulfillment easier than ever**. You won't have to spend as much time handling invalid deliveries or calling customers to cancel orders, which will negatively affect their experience.

Therefore, it is crucial to verify that the customer's area is qualified for delivery before he completes the purchase confirmation process.

### Restrict delivery areas by changing the shipping settings in Shopify

This method is **only accessible to Shopify Plus and customers using Shop Pay** as their checkout option. If the customer pays using Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, or PayPal, then the local delivery option isn't available.

Follow these steps to set up local delivery and limit delivery areas for your online store:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to **Settings > Shipping and delivery**.
2. In the **Local delivery** section, click **Manage** next to the location where you want to offer local delivery. If you have several locations, then click **Show more** to display all your locations
3. Select **This location offers local delivery**

&#x20; 4\. In the **Delivery area** section, use one of the following methods to set a delivery area:

* **Set a delivery radius**: Select a unit of measurement and enter the maximum distance between your delivery location and where you want to deliver to. The distance must be less than 160 kilometers or 100 miles. Choose whether to enable **Include neighboring states or regions**

<figure><img src="/files/hlJOsXqfBwoTK1Gjbdh8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/xyguFFSjNHhV7Zs48bG0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* **Use postal codes**: Enter a list of postal codes (up to a maximum of 3,000 characters) that you want to deliver to, separated by a comma and a space. To include a group of postal codes, add either an asterisk or a space after the initial characters to indicate a range of postal codes.

<figure><img src="/files/9kbDxGg4kX2Y1Hq7Cbg6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

&#x20;     &#x35;**. Examples:**

* `M5V1E3, M5V1K4, M5V3N5, M5V2N3`
* `97392, 97306, 97325, 97352`
* `M5V*` and `M5V`(note the space character) include all postal codes from `M5V1A1` to `M5V9Z9`.
* `9732*` and `9732`(note the space character) include all postal codes from `97320`to`97329`

Follow the [Shopify guideline](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shipping/setting-up-and-managing-your-shipping/local-methods/local-delivery) to keep your setup on the right track

### Restrict delivery areas by using a Shopify app

Even though it only takes a few steps, Shopify's delivery area restriction option can't provide you with the level of customization you want. Especially, you can’t check whether your customer’s area is eligible for delivery or not right on the product page and cart page. It will not be a pleasant experience if they have spent a significant amount of time selecting products and are almost through with their purchase confirmation when they discover that their locations are not permitted to deliver.&#x20;

Additionally, if you are using the basic Shopify plan, you must pay a significant amount of money to access this function because it is only applicable for Shopify Plus and is available with Shop Pay.&#x20;

As a result, **adopting a Shopify app is a worthwhile alternative**. Businesses looking for a full solution for their local delivery in general and delivery validation in particular on a tight budget should strongly consider [DingDoong: Delivery + Pickup](https://apps.shopify.com/delivery-date-omega?surface_detail=article_id_459).

<figure><img src="/files/xh0EddVg2Korl75g2kAk" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Used directly in Shopify admin, the app allows merchants to **check a customer’s delivery eligibility directly on the product page and cart page**. If the buyer’s zip code or address is available for delivery, they are proceeded to check out and vice versa.

The app provides merchants with **four methods to limit the locations** where deliveries are permitted:

1. [Exact postal/zip code matching](https://docs.dingdoong.io/local-delivery/set-up-delivery-conditions-distance-validation/exact-postal-code-matching)
2. [Partial postal/zip code matching](https://docs.dingdoong.io/local-delivery/set-up-delivery-conditions-distance-validation/partial-postal-code-matching)
3. [Maximum radius](https://docs.dingdoong.io/local-delivery/set-up-delivery-conditions-distance-validation/maximum-radius)
4. [Maximum driving distance](https://docs.dingdoong.io/local-delivery/set-up-delivery-conditions-distance-validation/maximum-radius)

You can easily determine which **zip codes or addresses are available for delivery** on your back end. The customer enters their zip code or address into the storefront widget. If his zipcode or address matches your settings, he is able to proceed further and vice versa

[Click here](https://apps.shopify.com/delivery-date-omega?surface_detail=article_id_459) to install the app

In addition, the app can assist merchants in **setting up a date picker at the storefront** and enable buyers to choose their preferred time of delivery. They also configure their different **cut-off time** for individual days and **limit orders** per day or time slot to make sure customer satisfaction and avoid overcommitting

The app also includes **a built-in calendar** as well, making it simple to handle all order requests and monitor shipping deadlines. They are allowed to manage and get order notifications on mobile by syncing data to their personal **Google Calendar,** or **exporting all order data** in an excel file to effortlessly filter and sort them out

> ### What's a group order?

There are several definitions of group order:<br>

A group order is considered as "where everyone joins a shared cart using a link  Everyone in the order can see where their orders are with joint tracking, and orders are individually packaged for easy order distribution" by **Uber Eats**.&#x20;

According to **Panerabread**, Group ordering is "an enhancement that provides you (the host) with a sharable link, allowing your associates (invitees) to add their menu items to a single order that you'll pay for at checkout".&#x20;

Sharing the same idea, **DoorDash** agrees that "A group order allows multiple people to add their individual items into a collective order cart at the same time" and **Cafe24** states that “Group buying is an online shopping practice where several buyers band together and purchase a specific product in bulk for lower prices per person”

To **Deliver Kpop**, an agency that offers buying & shipping Korean products services, Group order has been narrowed down to "a merch-buying activity where fans add their personal orders to a shared online cart or basket at the same time."

<figure><img src="https://www.omegatheme.com/images/BLOG-KATHY/whats-definition-2.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Although Group order is defined in different ways, they all have something in common. It's simple to grasp group order meaning with four key points:

* A group order is a buying activity where a group of people join a shared order link that they can use to place orders together
* Each person adds their own orders to a shared online cart from their own device at the same time
* They also get delivered together to the same location at the same time. Orders are individually packaged and labeled for easy distribution
* The owner pays for the full cart and splits the payment among the invitees later

> ### What's a group order used for?

Group ordering can be used for different purposes:

### Group shopping

There are numerous reasons why group shopping can be effective in some contexts. It's shopping for office supplies, family groceries, or niche items. People staying in a shared living space, digital spaces (like niche or hobby groups and forums) or a group reunion benefit greatly from the buying habit because they can order on their own and ensure they get exactly what they want (pick their favorites or leave their special customization for the store). The host also makes online shopping for the team easier by not having to chase anyone down for their order. Another reason why group shopping is useful is the store’s total cart promotion, which encourages a higher cart total, so people may invite their friends to join for the purpose of the promotion.

### Overseas shopping

Overseas shopping is incrementally popular, especially in developing countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, India, and even in developed countries as well, such as Korea. The sole purpose of a collective order for overseas goods is to save on shipping costs. International shipments are expensive, so why not put a big order together to make the shipping fee worthwhile? Better yet, this fee can also be split among people, making it even cheaper.

### Food ordering

Group eating is a common practice in the workplace, at a party, or at a family or friend reunion. The real struggle begins when the host has to order for a group of people and food choices that do not match. Group ordering simplifies how people organize team meals by letting teammates select their own dishes made to their specific tastes. That saves his time and ensures their satisfaction. It also helps to save on delivery fees by combining many meals into a single delivery and reduce meal costs by utilizing online store discounts.

> ### What are the benefits of joining a group order?

### Making online shopping easier

#### **To the host**

Group ordering is the most convenient method to place an order online with the family or the whole office. The host never has to chase anyone down for their order ever again. It's also a simple way to enjoy a group meal with all friends without having to know what they want to eat.

The host has full control over the orders of the invitees. It's unnecessary for him to keep track of all people's orders and worry about missing someone who hasn't ordered yet. He also doesn't have to remember everyone's order decisions or rack his brain to divide money on the total bill. He can easily log in and see who ordered and who didn’t. He can manage the number of people ordering as well as the amount each person spends on that shared cart.

Group ordering facilitates the host to satisfy even the pickiest. Put yourself in the shoes of the host. Do you remember when you’d order food for your team and several of them would complain? They either didn’t like the food you provided, or it didn’t meet their dietary needs. With group order, those problems become a thing of the past. By allowing everyone on your team to order their own individual meal, you ensure they get exactly what they want.

In addition, the host doesn't have to guess how much food to serve because the invitee orders the exact amount of food they need for each meal, which helps to cut food waste and reduce the risk of overspending.

#### **To the invitees**

Group ordering makes online shopping for a team easier than ever and saves a lot of time. People don't have to gather around a shared phone and choose their items in turn. Instead, everyone can customize their orders at the same time from their own phones.

Not only do invitees get to order their favorites, but they can also leave notes for stores regarding their orders. This means they can request special customizations (a photo book using their own photographs, layout, typeface, colors, phrases, and wording) or let the restaurant know of any of their dietary preferences (any allergies, or whether coriander, tomato,... is allowed or not).

Many people are not familiar with online shopping, payment, and shipping processes. Therefore, they choose to join a group order where the group order managers will do the difficult work of buying and shipping for them. All they need to do is to add their favorites to the shared cart and wait for the order to arrive.

### Saving on fees

There are extra fees and charges for handling and delivery of individual items, people find the most efficient, less expensive way of purchasing, they thought of doing group orders.&#x20;

Firstly, everyone has to share the shipping fee, so it is cheaper compared to when people are purchasing an item alone. Since orders are placed together, people only pay one delivery fee instead of multiple fees for each individual order.

Secondly, group ordering can cut down on purchase price as the purchase is made in bulk. Bulk buying may also be subjected to discounts and promos depending on the online store. So, that’s an additional reduced cost.

Thirdly, not to mention, there is no minimum spending required. Some online stores just support delivery for orders with a certain cart value. Therefore, buyers are unable to get delivered if they don't reach the minimum cart value or they have to pay a high fee for the service or delivery.

<figure><img src="https://www.omegatheme.com/images/BLOG-KATHY/li-ch-ca-group-order.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Bring people closer together

Group ordering facilitates connection among teammates, increases employee productivity, and builds a stronger team culture. Instead of placing individual orders, people can enjoy ordering and getting the same delivery with their team while still making their own selections and having their items individually grabbed and labeled.

### Bring huge advantages to merchants

Group buying practice creates a mutually beneficial agreement for all parties involved. Businesses that let customers order in groups from their online store benefit immensely from this:

#### **Encourage orders on their website**

Allowing a group of people to place an order in a shared cart gives merchants access to more potential customers rather to having them all make orders separately. The invitees are likely to come back and make a purchase on their own or with another group. Therefore, online sellers may more and more broaden your potential customer base and enable many people to know about your brand and products.

As mentioned above, many people turn to group order as a way to cut their shipping or purchase costs. As a result, by offering custom discounts and promos, online sellers are driving more sales volume to their businesses. For example, if you offer a 20% discount on total cart value for orders over $70, people who order individually will fall short of the required amount, so they may invite their friends/ family/ colleagues to join a group order to be eligible to apply that promotion. Therefore it's clear that for the same marketing cost, merchants are earning more in a single transaction

#### **Increase customer experience**

With the amazing advantages already discussed, it's easy to see that group buying brings customers a great shopping experience: making shopping online easier, saving on fees, and facilitating connection among teammates. As a result, shoppers have no reason to abandon their carts, which helps merchants increase the conversion rate and lower the abandoned cart rate.

#### **Reengage customers to connect with their friends, family and colleagues**

People had to suffer a long time of terrible physical distance throughout the Covid 19 epidemic, so they desire community and connection with family, friends, and colleagues more than ever. Group buying is an effective way to bring people closer together. Many local businesses consider connecting people as one of their missions. For example, Sarah Barron, Chief Marketing Officer at Domino’s stated that “As the nation recovers from the pandemic, we wanted to encourage families and friends to reconnect and enjoy a Domino’s together! What better way to get people’s attention than to yodel it from the rooftops”

#### **Save on delivery costs and staff resources**

Online sellers can save their time and staff resources by handling just one bulk order rather than several individual ones. They may reduce the number of deliveries and vehicles they must rent and avoid being overburdened if there aren't enough staff members to handle many deliveries.

&#x20;***>>> Group order may be a necessary part of people’s lives now, and more and more stores are finding a way to offer group buying experience for their customers. Dig more into it or you will miss out on a lot of things!***

> ### DingDoong offers the group order function for all Shopify stores for free

It is clear that group order brings great benefits to merchants, but the question raised is "How Shopify merchants can enable this function for their online stores?"

Although many third parties offer group order feature, there are some limitations. Merchants don't have their own playground, they must register as online booths on other apps/websites. They must follow certain rules and split commissions on each order placed for their agency. All order processing and delivery are both under the control of a third party. Furthermore, group order feature is only available in a few categories. Most third-party providers only provide food ordering, leaving other businesses with little choice except to rack their brains for a solution.

Understanding the specific problems that most merchants are facing, [DingDoong](https://apps.shopify.com/delivery-date-omega?surface_detail=article_id_468) has brainstormed and tried to fill the gaps between the app and the users by releasing a Group order feature which allows merchants to offer their customers a group buying experience [for free](https://apps.shopify.com/delivery-date-omega?surface_detail=article_id_468)

* **Create a group order**: A group order is created with a custom name, either at the beginning of shopping when a store is chosen or at check out. A link will be created to invite people. The one who created the group order is the owner of the cart.&#x20;
* **Sending invitations to friends**: the link is sent to the people whom the owner wishes to invite. Their friends enter their names and start shopping.&#x20;
* **Items are added to the cart**: Both the owner and their friends can add items to the cart. The owner can see who’s adding what and at what price.&#x20;
* **Review the cart**: Everyone finishes their shopping and finalizes their decisions. The group’s owner reviews the cart, decides which one they’re willing to pay for, and edits the final cart. He is the only person who has control of all the invitees’ orders
* **Pick delivery date & time**: The host consults his invitees to make the final decision on their preferred delivery date and time
* **Payment**: The owner of the group pays for everything in the cart, either theirs or their friends'. Their friends pay the owner their due personally.&#x20;
* **Shipment**: The cart is shipped to the owner’s chosen address.

# Exceptional online shopping experience with Group Order! Why haven't you tried it yet?

<figure><img src="/files/LBcrynKI6kI7u6DeH90g" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Situation 1:**

You must have been in charge of making a purchase for a group of people, like ordering groceries for the family, office supplies for coworkers, or some items for a Facebook group of pals. It’s recognized that ordering for a large number of people is not a simple task. Start by hunting down people to ask what they want, remembering all of the selections, controlling the number of orders and the money spent, asking the business owner for a quote to get a better bargain, and then dealing with the burden of distributing orders or dividing the whole bill. But sometimes, your selection doesn’t make people happy. You’ve forgotten toilet paper for your colleague, Tom, or haven’t left a note for the store that your friend, Mary, is allergic to nuts.

**Situation 2:**

while surfing the internet, you’ve stumbled onto a very attractive jumpsuit whose design is not sold anyplace in your country. The shipping fee for an international order is incredibly expensive—nearly as much as the outfit. Will you abandon the cart or continue shopping and pay for the costly shipping?

**Situation3:**

You are getting ready with your buddies for a night party. Everyone's gathering around a tiny screen and you can't see anything to choose from. Your friend Mary, who is in charge of ordering for the whole group, has forgotten to remove the pickles from your hamburger. What's worse, the order delivered is unpackaged and individually labeled, so people have to rummage through the shared food to find their favorite one. It's supposed to be an enjoyable communal meal, but the unpleasant ordering experience seems to have ruined it all.

**What would you do in such situations?** Group Order is truly an unbeatable solution that may help you manage the challenges of buying in group, save your money, and improve your online shopping experience

And there're tons of other situations in which Group order may help. For its ease and cheaper price via volume, buying in bulk, buying in group, or placing collective orders is constantly in high demand. However, e-commerce consumers are lacking a tool to do so in an easy & smooth way. Most merchants hardly recognize this demand as a trend in consumer behavior and turn it into the name “Group Order". That's the reason why they are unaware of enabling this function for their store and consumers still struggle with their online shopping.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/tqcdwJZDAylTrT4BTiiH" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Before exploring what group order is commonly used for, let's first start with its definition.

**Group Order can be defined in many different ways, but it's summed up into four main points:**

**So, What’s group order used for?**

Group Order is flexible and useful in a variety of situations, as was described before in this blog and at the beginning of the article. However, it may be categorized into three main parts:

### Group Shopping&#x20;

People who share a living, working, or digital space (a niche or hobby group, a forum, or a social group) frequently engage in this type of purchasing. They use Group Order for buying office supplies, family groceries, or niche items.&#x20;

Let's see some examples:

**Example 1:**&#x20;

Mia works for a firm and she is in charge of doing everyone's shopping, including groceries and office supplies.&#x20;

Anna is a housekeeper, she must prepare groceries & household items each week for her whole family.

Mia and Anna are both responsible for buying for a group of people. They must keep in mind everyone’s preferences and distribute to their members exactly what they want at the best price. They’ve turned into Group Order for easier online shopping, letting people pick what they want on their own devices. Now all Mia and Anna do is to give themselves a break, take a sip of coffee, wait for people to finish their shopping, apply a discount code and make a payment. They easily distribute separated orders to each member easier than ever because the bulk order is individually packed and labeled. Splitting the payment among members is so simple as well due to the transparency of all order details with the name and amount each one has to pay.&#x20;

**Example 2:**

For a group of people living in small cities, goods are not easily available to them because of high logistics costs and intermediaries which drive up the prices of goods. Additionally, many of them are not very tech-savvy and are not used to ordering online. Therefore, they are prone to the shopping community group to get better product access and a better deal for the large order.

**Example 3:**

Hanna is a big fan of making paper flowers, she is buying materials and supplies for her project. She discovers that if her order value is above 80$ she will get free shipping and if it is above 100$, she will get a discount of 30$ off each product. Therefore she turned to her local group and find people with the same hobby to order together. Amazingly, she not only got free delivery but also only paid $35 for her separate order. It is much more cost-saving than $50 for the goods and $10 for shipping if she makes a purchase alone.

To sum up, the stories of Mia, Anna, Hanna, or a group of people in small cities are typical situations that each of us may come across at some point in our life. We may earn some **prominent benefits by joining a group order**:

* Making online shopping easier and goods easy to access
* Make sure people get exactly what they want
* Help people save on delivery fees and purchase cost

<figure><img src="/files/Dkfmg9Yy4Hwj8ZBYiD3S" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Oversea shopping

It’s shopping behavior that is especially popular in developing countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, India, and even in developed countries as well, such as Korea.

**Let's see the example:**

Grace is a fan of Kpop. She desires to have an album of BlackPink. It would be so ridiculous if she orders it on her own because overseas shipping costs are higher than the cost of the album itself. Therefore, she found a Black Pink fan group on Facebook and met Tom, an order collector who frequently put individual orders into a bulk order to help people like Grace save her shipping cost. He is responsible for making orders and payments for all members of the group. When the order is delivered, he distributes it to each member and gets his money back. As a result, Grace cut down on her shipping costs. She was meant to pay a $24 shipping fee for a product worth 30$, but bulk ordering helps her lower her shipping cost to $3 (as the shipping fee was split among 8 buyers).

It's easy to understand that The sole purpose of a collective order for overseas goods is to **save on shipping costs**. International shipments are expensive, so people put a big order together to make the shipping fee worthwhile. This fee is split among people so it becomes cheaper.

<figure><img src="/files/R9DvYa77LLq0818J6OxU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Food ordering

Group eating is a common practice in the workplace, at a party, or at a family or friend reunion.

**Let's see the example:**&#x20;

Mary and her friends are holding a pizza party for Christmas. Each one of them has a different taste for pizza, Tonny wants to have pizza with lots of tomatoes on the top while Hanna is allergic to tomatoes and she'd better get a pizza with a full topping of beef. Thomas is a cheese lover and he wants a pizza with a double cheese base. Remembering all people's choices and noting down each of their preferences is really frustrating. Therefore, Mary turns to group order function, creates an order link, and shares it with her friends. Now they copy the link and are free to order what they want on their own devices, add their favorites to a shared cart, and can leave any specific demand for the store owner. Got it easy, just 5 minutes, people all finish their shopping and are happy with their choice. Moreover, they get a discount of 30% of the total cart value for a bulk order. Now they just sit down, take a sip of coffee and wait for their order delivery. Enjoy their Christmas party easier than ever.

It's understandable that holding a party for a group of people is not an easy task and may cause annoyance, especially when the food choice of the host and members' tastes do not match. Therefore, Group order is born as a bridge to fill the gap between e-commerce customer pain points and their desire for a **hassle-free shopping experience**. Group ordering **simplifies how people organize team meals** by letting teammates select their own dishes made to their specific tastes. The orders are individually grabbed and labeled with the order name. That saves the host's time and ensures the satisfaction of everyone. It also helps to **save on delivery fees** by combining many meals into a single delivery and reduces meal costs by utilizing online store discounts.

<figure><img src="/files/3iQp00XH22PLFPHr5A0R" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

> ### What are the benefits of joining a group order

As seen in the example above, it is easy to summarize some significant benefits of joining a group order in four main points:

<figure><img src="/files/kzDeBrA5YksWQjIgSzp8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### People enjoy a hassle-free online shopping experience

Holding a party or placing an order online with family, a whole company, or a large number of people may cause some trouble in some way. Group Order is a simple way to celebrate a perfect party without any frustration. It's so **convenient & time-saving** for both the host and the invitees

As normal, the host always hunts down people to ask for their choices, remembers all the choices, gets the order, distributes a box of order without any labels for each individual, and figures out how much people cost for their order. And sometimes he makes mistakes and people aren't satisfied. The party which is expected to have much fun ends up being disappointed because people can't get exactly what they want.

Group order is a solution for a **better online shopping experience with a team**.

The host can give himself a break, take a sip of coffee and wait for people to finish their orders because now all invitees are free to pick up what they want via their own mobile. They can also leave notes or request special customizations for their orders (a photo book with their own photos, layout, typo, color or wording, a pizza with their dietary preferences: top with a lot of tomatoes and mushroom and base without cheese)

There won't be any more images of a crowd of people huddling over a little screen or rummaging through delivered orders to find their order anymore. Orders are also individually packaged and labeled for easy distribution

Group order also makes it possible for those who are not experienced with online shopping to access their desired goods. All they need to do is join a group order where the owner will do the difficult work of buying, paying, and shipping for them. All they need to do is to add their favorites to the shared cart and wait for the order to arrive.

### People save on their shipping fees and purchase costs&#x20;

People can **lower their delivery fees and purchase costs** by conducting collective orders. It costs less than buying the item separately because people only pay one delivery fee instead of multiple fees for each individual order.

Moreover, people can get discounts or promos offered by store owners when they meet the minimum spending required such as getting a 30% discount on the total cart value for order value above 100$ or getting 25% off for each item if the cart has at least 5 different items. And of course, people are rarely eligible for these promotional offers if they order alone and for personal use, but with group order, these discounts & promos become more practical and achievable. Therefore, discounts or promos are considered as an additional reduced cost when people make purchases in bulk.

### People connect more with their family, friends, and colleagues

People had to suffer a long time of terrible physical distance throughout the Covid 19 epidemic, so they desire community and connection with family, friends, and colleagues more than ever. Group buying is an effective way to **bring people closer together**.&#x20;

Especially, Group Order is considered to be one of the best ways to connect people who live far from each other as it creates a common space where people with their buddies can share the same hobby and go shopping together. It helps to foster human connection and meet the minimum promotional requirement, that's the reason why people choose Group Order for a better shopping experience.

Additionally, it is good now to chat with each other directly in the storefront without any login, instead of switching between several channels to engage with their friends. A single click brings people together and makes online buying more convenient than ever.

Perhaps many think that allowing each member to freely add their items to the shared cart may make hosts care less and hardly understand the interest of each one than hunting down members to ask for what they want and leave a note for a restaurant on their own. It’s significant when you are in charge of the company’s supplies or a housewife of a family, caring for each person's interest is what you are paying great attention to. But maybe something in Group Order you are looking over. After everyone finishes their shopping, **all orders are shown and transparent before all members** with names, notes, or the amount of money they spend. Therefore, not only the host but also other members of a team get to know what their buddies choose for their orders, and what they are interested in.

Needless to say, Group Order is truly a bridge to build a connection among members of a team.

### Get in touch directly with the store owner, not via the third party

With [Group Order](https://dingdoong.io/pages/group-order/) function offered by DingDoong, store owners **run this function directly in their store** without signing up with a third party and that's what customers will love.&#x20;

According to [Thomas Insights](https://www.thomasnet.com/insights/as-food-delivery-customers-ditch-3rd-party-apps-takeaway-tech-rises/), while third-party apps’ business more than doubled during the pandemic, more than half of consumers in the U.S. order directly from restaurants. Some motivations behind this are: **Justice** (They believe third-party apps’ practices to be predatory to both delivery drivers and restaurants, and so they choose to order directly from restaurants); **Economics** (Savvy shoppers are going straight to the restaurants for their food delivery in order to save some costs as orders placed through third parties are significantly higher) and **Personalization** (People are prone to use service directly from the restaurant for a more personalized experience. Upwards of 70% of customers of casual dining and quick-service restaurants (QSR) are willing to give their email addresses in return for personalized offers).

> ### Group Order is on the way to becoming a trend

## What’s a retail calendar?

A Retail Calendar is an invaluable tool for retailers, providing an overview of the most important dates, activities, and sale events throughout the year. This allows retailers to stay organized, plan ahead for specific campaigns, optimize their sales strategies, and maximize the impact of their efforts to achieve greater success in their retail business.

<figure><img src="https://dingdoong.io/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/image-609.jpg" alt="retail calendar"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## How does a Retail calendar benefit your business?

### Stay organized, better focus and visibility (reduce the risk of missing out on big events)

A retail calendar provides a comprehensive overview of all important dates and sales events month by month, giving you a clear vision of upcoming events in one place. This allows you to decide which sales events to focus on and which ones to pass on.&#x20;

It often takes at least one month to plan for large-scale sales events, including preparing resources and running marketing campaigns to let customers know about the brand and its offers. Utilizing a retail calendar can help you plan ahead, stay organized, and map out your strategy, so you don't miss out on any major opportunities. This will ensure that you are well-prepared for any upcoming sales events and can maximize your success.

### Efficient Resource Allocation

Once you identify which sales events to prioritize, you can allocate your resources - finance, time, labor, and inventory - to ensure a hassle-free shopping holiday and maximize your return on investment.

### Smart Staffing Solutions

The holiday season is a busy time for any retailer, and it's important not to miss out on any opportunities to serve more customers due to a lack of staff. Overworking your staff can lead to long wait times and a poor customer experience, so it's essential to plan ahead with a retail calendar to ensure you have adequate staff.

### Better inventory management

By understanding the timing of these events, you can adjust your inventory levels accordingly, and avoid stockouts. This ensures you always have stock on hand to meet customer needs.

### Strategic promotion planning

Many holidays and sale events may make your customers feel overwhelmed by numerous promotions and sales. With a retail calendar, you can simply organize your promotions ahead of time without having them overlap, which would confuse your consumers and hurt your revenue and profit margin.&#x20;
